Early Harvest

We had friends over for a barbecue last Friday, it ended up being one of the indoor kinds... on the stove (it was too rainy, too windy, too cold to cook outside). Hamburgers are great either way, and they are especially great when eaten with a fresh salad.
We picked fresh lettuce from our own garden, fresh herbs for a dressing and fresh mint leaves for the water. I love eating selfgrown food. We only have a little bit of food in our tiny garden, but the fun of watching the plants grow and the enjoyment of eating something you have taken care of yourself is really wort it. I'm sure that the financial benefit can be overlooked (especially this first year, where we have used money on getting the garden ready) but the personal benefit is great. I can't wait for Adam to be big enough to help and to understand the little wonder it really is to watch a seed grow into a big plant.
