But even though we missed their company we had a fun and relaxing evening.
My sister and I had seen a cooking show where they made the traditional "kransekage" Marcipan cake - and we decided to try it out.
Actually this was one of these things that didn't even look easy on TV, but we decided to take the challenge and make the best out of it. If you want to try it look here.
We had A LOT of fun trying to make it look pretty, and the final result wasn't that bad actually.
Have a look:
The lady from the TV show suggested that greenies could practice decorating with the royal icing on a broom stick.. I did it on a chap stick instead.
I "allowed" Louise to practice on the left over cake.. it sure wasn't pretty.
But amateurs or not - have a look at the final result... not too shabby eh?
We even decorated the living room and everything
We had nachos for dinner, with home made salsa and guacamole
The black sisters took over the kitchen
For main course we had an adapted version of Beef Wellington, roast potatoes, green beans and red wine sauce... I forgot to take a picture, but it tasted great, although the potatoes was a bit overdone.
Dessert was a home made Oreo ice cream (Mona style) with raspberry sorbet.
The dessert had an 80'ies look to it, but it sure tasted like 2011.
Partayyyyy!!!
We don't have any pictures of Adam, but he was a real trooper, and didn't seem bothered by the fireworks, he looked like he enjoyed watching the beautiful colors safely behind our bedroom window in the arms of his pappa.
Happy 2011 everbody!
